Dark Knight and Shadow

I live in darkness
Far from your shore
But my spirit stands
Near, by your door

I hide in the shadows
Guarding your heart
An avenging angel
That'll never depart

You need not fear
Of what you can't see
For my one desire
Is your liberty

I will not linger
Nor haunt you at night
But I will be ready
To protect you from fright

Demons surround us
And evil is near
Which seek to devour
The ones without fear

They plot their vile plans
And hatch their dark dreams
To torture the innocent
With their evil schemes

But they have forgotten
That justice comes fast
To those who despise
The weak and outcast

For I also dwell
In their black abodes
And know of their plots
Before they unfold

They will all fail
When I bring them down
To the pit of destruction
Where such men abound

Then you will see
That my heart is true
And though we're apart
I still love you

But today I'm a shadow
Of a heart now distant
But when you are ready
I will be at hand

I know you can't see me
But I'm with you still
And though you deny it
It's your thoughts I fill

For that's where I live
Inside of your mind
Joined together
Our spirits entwined

We are the same
Split down the middle
Darkness and light
God's eternal riddle

Call unto me
When you look to the sky
And I will hear you
When evil is neigh

Upon the winds
To you I will come
In power and strength
Until the battle is won

For I am your shadow
Whose heart you have owned
Since we were children
A long time ago

Seek me and find me
I'm not far away
Just ask the Lord
And He'll open the way

But until that moment
I'll remain out of sight
A guardian spirit
Your own Dark Knight
