It’s the Truth (Here I Am)

By I.M. Ulysses

It’s the truth,
Here I am
I stand at your door
My heart in my hand

I’ve come to see you
And draw you in
To show you my light
And let life begin

I come not with silver,
Copper or gold
I arrive empty handed
Tired, hungry, and alone

What will you see
When your eyes catch mine
Will there be pain, fear, or hate
Or love that’s divine

I cannot tell you
As you lie sleeping
Dreaming of days
And memories worth keeping

But know that I’m coming
To you from the sky
A simple young man
Who will not lie

And on that day
When we both can see
We’ll now know the price
Of our victory

How two hearts were kept
Imprisoned in time
Until by God’s grace
At last were entwined

It’s the Truth
The place where I stand
Open your door,
Here I am
